Council for Exceptional Children student chapter

The College of Education’s student chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is an organization for professionals interested in providing appropriate educational opportunities for children with special needs. Through the excellent leadership of its officers, the CEC student chapter has been involved with several activities, including local Special Olympics events and the Sara Spano Clothing Bank.

Monthly meetings with guest speakers are held to discuss pertinent issues concerning people with disabilities.  A highlight for the chapter has been sending several of its officers and members to the Annual Conference of the Georgia Federation Council for Exceptional Children. Projects for consideration during the upcoming school year include volunteer work for sports events for people with disabilities and collaboration with special education teachers in the public schools.
