Department of Teacher Education Strategic Plan, 2007

Institutional goals were established as part of CSU's Strategic Planning process. The Department of Teacher Education's unit goals were written to address institutional goals.

Planning Initiative:
Continue to develop model classrooms for Early Childhood Education and MG/SEC

Assessment of Results:
A total of $3,000 needs to be allocated and used for completion of this project. Additional materials and-or equipment for model classrooms to enhance learning of teacher candidates.

Planning Initiative:
Review and report on issues related to asynchronous and Web-enhanced instruction (e.g., on-campus availability of instructor for office hours, amount of seat time required for students, adjustment of faculty course load for asynchronous courses, screening procedures for the admission of students to online courses, etc.)

Assessment of Results:
Possible development of online master’s program for teacher education to meet the needs of potential students who need more flexibility in taking courses.

Planning Initiative:
Continue collaboration with P-12 faculty in the Partner School Network to impact student learning

Assessment of Results:
Enhancement of Partner School Network (e.g., add additional schools as needed) Changes in design, delivery, and/or evaluation of field experiences and clinical practice based on data gathered from partner schools, CSU faculty, and teacher candidates.

Planning Initiative:
Provide a consistent and coherent course of study which allows undergraduate and graduate students to complete their respective programs of study in a timely manner.

Assessment of Results:
Modified and improved programs
Revision of Ed.S. programs
Offer new Media Specialist program

Planning Initiative:
A total of $45,000 to $90,000 needs to be allocated and used for completion of this project. Continue to fill additional faculty positions within the department.

Continuation and improvement of graduate and undergraduate programs through the hiring of qualified faculty.
