secondary earth/space science education as a career. We are

Science teachers are in very short supply at this time. You will
find potential employers very eager to recruit and retain you as
a teacher . We want you to succeed in your teaching and will

Program Description
The Geology and Secondary Education (Earth
Science) program at Columbus State University provides
preservice teachers a solid knowledge base emphasizing
contemporary theory and research. Students also participate in
field experiences in settings which reflect diverse populations
of adolescents.
Career Opportunities
The B.S. Ed. in Geology and Secondary Education
(Earth Science) program leads to entry level certification to
teach biology in grades 7-12. A minimal amount of additional
coursework will lead to certification which will allow you to
teach at any middle school grade (4-8). Certification is at the
T4 level (Georgia).

Admission into the Teacher Education Program. Applications

Certification Requirements
To be eligible for recommendation by Columbus State
University for a Georgia professional teaching certificate,
students must complete a rigorous program of coursework. They
also must meet certain other criteria required by the Georgia
Professional Standards Commission. Please contact the Office of
