2008-2009 CEC Chapter #418 OfficersCouncil for Exceptional Children, Student Chapter #418The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the professional organization for special educators, offers exciting opportunities to new and continuing professionals in the field of special education. The College of Education's student chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children is a student-led organization for those interested in providing appropriate educational opportunities for students with special needs. Through the excellent leadership of its officers, the CEC student chapter has been involved with several fun and interesting service-learning activities, including local Special Olympics events and the Sara Spano Clothing Bank. In addition, the organization holds semester meetings with guest speakers to discuss pertinent issues concerning the profession of teaching, students with diverse educational needs, and disability and culture. A recent highlight for the chapter includes sending several of its officers and members to the Annual Conference of the Georgia Federation Council for Exceptional Children. This year's chapter officers are working hard to continue to make this a chapter that serves the needs and interests of its members. If you are interested in becoming involved as a member or have any suggestions regarding chapter activities, feel free to contact any of the officers: President: Rachel Foland Vice-President: Christina Grant Secretary: Mary Ann Reynolds Treasurer: Whitney Hudgens Membership Chair: Brittney Davis Newsletter Editor: Cathy Russell Faculty Advisors: Dr. Greg Blalock & Dr. Mary Beth Hendricks Come Learn More About Student Teaching from the Student Teacher's Perspective! Our next chapter meeting will be held Tuesday, April 21, from 6:30-7:30pm in Jordan 335.
