Program Description
The M. Ed. program in Special Education - Mental Retardation at Columbus State University
provides advanced professional and pedagogical studies that develop expertise in the
knowledge, skills, and habits of accomplished teachers.
Career Opportunities
Successful completion of the M. Ed. Program allows the candidate to apply to upgrade
certification to the T-5 level.
Faculty
The Special Education - Behavioral Disorders faculty includes Dr. Mary Beth Hendricks
and Dr. John David Reid. Adjunct faculty members include Dr. Deborah Lopez, Mrs. Laura
Nichols, and Mr. David Stola. Dr. Jeff Conklin is the Program Coordinator.
Occasionally, part-time instructors who are area teachers and full-time faculty members
from other divisions of the university or other programs in the College of Education
teach content and general education courses.
