Mission statement
The Student Services Committee was established to provide recommendations that will improve CSU's College of Education and better prepare individuals in accepting the duties and responsibilities of a professional educator. The committee sponsors activities and initiatives that foster a comprehensive student support program for all College of Education students, including familiarizing students with the College of Education's mission and conceptual framework.

- Continue to make PowerPoint presentations to education students in EDUC 2130
- Involvement in campus-wide Majors Fair
- Assist with the National Teacher of the Year Breakfast
- Participate in the Graduate Orientation Project

1. I am interested in becoming a teacher. What do I do now?
Call 706-568-2191 and schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor in the College of Education's Office of Services and Field Experiences, in Jordan Hall 107. This advisor will discuss a program of study for you and provide information on how you can be admitted to the Teacher Education Program.
2. What are the requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program?
Stop by the College of Education's Office of Services and Field Experiences in Jordan Hall 107 and pick up a copy of the requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program or schedule an appointment with an advisor there to review the requirements.
3. When should I get admitted to the Teacher Education Program?
As soon as possible!Try to complete the requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program during the first semester of your sophomore year.
4. How do I get information about the GACE Basic Skills Assessment?
You can come to the COE's Office of Services and Field Experiences in Jordan Hall 107 and pick up a copy of the registration booklet for the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators exam, which is designed to assess the knowledge and skills of prospective Georgia public school educators. An SAT score of 1000 or ACT score of 43 automatically exempts you from being required to take the GACE Basic Skills Assessment for admission to the Teacher Education Program.
5. How can I find a sequence or timeline for when the courses in my degree program will be offered?
Some of the College of Education departmental websites have a schedule of course offerings posted. You can also check with your advisor in the Office of COE Services and Field Experiences to determine when courses will be offered. To identify the courses that you have left in your program of study, you can access your academic transcript at the CSU Web site in ISIS, through CougarNet or by talking to your advisor.
6.When should I apply for student teaching?
Applications for student teaching must be submitted by Sept. 15 if you are planning to student teach during the following spring semester. Jan. 15 is the application deadline for student teaching during the fall semester. Student teaching applications are available in the Office of Services and Field Experiences in Jordan Hall 107.
7.When should I apply for graduation?
You should apply for graduation at least two semesters in advance of your planned graduation date. Be sure and review your program of study and academic transcript to ensure that you have completed all of the program requirements.
8.How do I begin preparing a credential file for job applications and interviews?
Begin preparing your credential file the semester before you start student teaching because it is a time-consuming process. Contact the CSU Career Center at 706-569-3198 to obtain information on creating a credential file and resume to use when seeking employment in a school system.
